Hutch Pro Racer - BMX Re-Build and Restore 01

Posted by Matthew Poster on

Hello BMX world!

This series is going to go through the steps I take to break down this beautiful Hutch Pro Racer I got from my friend Bill. I raced a bike just like this back in '89 at the Rockford BMX Midwest Nationals. I turned intermediate that weekend by winning both days and taking home trophies that were as tall as I was. I'll never forget rockin' out to Metallica on the drive down and getting psyched to ride Bermzilla!

I'll begin with how the bike currently is set up. Then as I progress through the breakdown, I'll be making some parts, and swap out others to make it just the way I want it to be.

So, to get started the bike is in really great shape. The chrome is almost perfect and the bike is basically complete. It's only missing the brake lever and inner cable.
